Spinal stenosis

Spinal stenosis is a condition characterized by the narrowing of spaces within the spine, which can compress the nerves traveling through the spinal canal. The most common areas affected are the neck (cervical stenosis) and the lower back (lumbar stenosis). Symptoms can include pain, numbness, muscle weakness, and problems with bladder or bowel function, depending on the location and severity of the stenosis.

Spinal stenosis can result from several factors, including aging, arthritis, hereditary conditions, spinal injuries, and tumors. As the spine narrows, pressure on the spinal cord and nerve roots can lead to discomfort and disability. Treatment typically focuses on relieving symptoms and improving quality of life. Options may include medications, physical therapy, and in some cases, surgical interventions to relieve pressure on the spinal cord and nerves.

Chiropractic care offers a non-surgical treatment option for some patients with Spinal stenosis. By improving spinal alignment and function, chiropractic adjustments can help reduce nerve pressure and alleviate symptoms. Additionally, chiropractors may recommend exercises and lifestyle changes to support spinal health and prevent further progression of the condition.
